Memorial Day Con't....
Since Emma and Matthew didn't get to go halibut fishing, Cal told them he'd take them on Monday when we got home. We went out to one of the little stocked lakes on base. Problem with these smaller stocked lakes is that all of the "keepers" are out in the middle, accessible only by boat. From the shore, you get the little guys who were recently released. Which didn't matter in our case anyway, since we couldn't even entice the little guys to take a big enough bite for catch and release. Fish or no fish, it was a nice way to celebrate Memorial Day as a family on a beautiful sunny day.

Even though we were back behind the base, we still heard the National Anthem at 5:00 when the flags get taken down. To our kids, this is a natural occurence and they know what to do. Now, it doesn't matter where we are, if they hear the National Anthem, they stop what they are doing and put their hand over their heart to "show uhspect foe ah countwy." (4-yr old R's aren't perfect.) If you are with them, and you don't do the same, you will hear about it.
This is Thomas and Cal's "white moose." They kept insisting there was a white moose across the lake. I had already spotted this moose and had taken a look through the camera with the zoom. As I suspected, it was most likely a plastic bag that looked larger than life, being as it was so far away and apparently spread out on some branches. They told me, "No, it was moving." Yes, my Dear's, plastic bags will move with a breeze. They didn't believe me until I showed it to them on the camera. LOL Maybe I should have indulged them and their excitement?
